Aphrodisiacs, Anyone?
Aphrodisiacs are foods or drugs (such as Spanish fly) that are reputed to arouse desire. Many aphrodisiacs simply resemble sex organs (oysters or asparagus, anyone?), while others have a specific effect on the body, such as boosting the heart rate.
Oysters: These may be the most famous of all aphrodisiacs, says Hopkins. On the half shell, the oyster takes on the shape of the female sexual organs and smells slightly tangy to boot. And they certainly benefit the human body -- oysters are low in fat and high in complex sugars, proteins, and zinc. Some speculate they may boost testosterone production and improve sexual performance.
